So, I am in a silly mood. It has started raining here and, like last year, seems to be on it’s way to soaking every last bit of the city. My basement is flooded (i.e., has large puddles of water everywhere), so when I go down to do laundry I need my waders. The chickens spend most of the day huddled under my daughter’s slide. It’s actually quite funny to see.
I have been doing a lot of many things. I’ve finished a several knitting projects (Martha, Saranac, Father and Son socks)–pictures to come–and am currently working on Shedir from Knitty. I love Knitty. And I love Shedir. It’s really fun to knit all the cables.
Girlfriend has been dying for me to post a picture of her in her Halloween costume. I give you Hermione:
Of course I knitted her Gryffindor scarf. Duh. And I made her hat. A friend (with the delightful name of Cricket) lent us her school robe–she went to a college in the South where they had to wear their robes every day like they do at Oxford (or Hogwarts). In fact, her robe is from Oxford. And I’ve always had a dream of either going to or teaching at Oxford. So, I was quite thrilled about this robe. Mock me if you must.
Since we’re on the subject of October, another fun thing that happened was that my friend Sara visited from Chicago.
We went to grad school together (at NYU). It’s always wonderful to be around her and remember the days when I actually used my brain. We had a very nice visit. We did all sorts of fun things and she actually helped my daughter make a Fairy Quilt. I was super impressed. Pictures of that when I get around to downloading them.
Well, the rain is making me feel blah, so I am off to knit in front of some random DVD.
