Well, it’s been raining here (heavily)for 23 straight days. The record is 33 straight days and I think we are going to beat it. I honestly think Noah is going to float by any minute to ask if we want a ride. It’s supposed to rain here but sheesh–not this much. Usually it’s a spitty kind of rain. And, to make matters worse, January is usually a cold but clear month. We usually have several days of sun to cheer us before we settle in to February and March–the months of gloom.
I took a picture of The Embossed Leaves socks from the Winter 2006 Interweave Knits that I’m currently. I’m knitting it in Lorna’s Laces shepherd sock yarn, Yellowstone colorway. The picture is cruddy (what’s new?) but it gives you a tiny idea of what they look like.
We also have a bunny in the backyard. Now we have a menagerie of sorts. We’ve got four chickens, one bunny, assorted birds and squirrels, and a sharp shinned hawk that comes by every so often to see what’s for lunch (see above). I tried to take a picture of the bunny, but my camera is so bad and the bunny is so close to the general colors outside (grey and brown) that you can’t see him (her?) in any pictures. Someday I’ll get a better camera and then things will actually look decent on my blog. Anyway, the bunny is part of an explosion of bunnies from a park about a mile away. The bunnies have been slowly making their way toward the park that’s next to our house and finally reached it a few months ago. Then the bunnies started checking out our street–two set up quarters in the yard across the street. Then one day a couple of weeks ago they came to our house. Right now the bunny is cute, but I’m sure he (she) won’t be as cute when s/he is eating our vegetables. Actually, it will give our daughter hours of fun trying to figure out how to make an Anti-Pesto machine from Wallace and Gromit and the Curse of the Were-Rabbit movie. She is obsessed with that movie (and the book).
