Happy week after Easter! I hope whatever being you were visited by made you happy.
EGGS
Each year we fill a bunch of plastic eggs with stickers and sponge animal capsules (the things you stick in water and they grow into an animal shape) and then the Easter Bunny (wink wink) hides them in the yard.
FLOWERS
Look at the beautiful flowers my husband sent to my daughter and me:
SOCKS and a TECHNICOLOR YAWN
And admire the Waterfalls socks by Northern Sunshine Designs that I’m making for my sister:
The yarn is Koigu. I got it a couple of months ago at Churchmouse Yarns and Teas, one of my favorite shops in the whole world. In fact, it was the day that I was holding the Koigu, chatting with John, the tea expert, when my daughter started vomiting. Being a mom, I immediately stuck my other hand under her chin so she could throw up into it as we made our way out the door (mind you, I still had the Koigu in my other hand). After dealing with the mess outside, I calmly came back in and paid for the Koigu. I couldn’t imagine putting it back on the pile. Even though nothing gross happened to it, it was part of the situation and it just seemed like the right thing to do. Kit (the owner) and John were so gracious about the situation, acting like we didn’t just hurl all over their fancy shop. Sigh. I love them.
COWL
On to more muted colors. Check out the Aibhlinn cowl from Knitty that I’ve been working on for ages. It’s such a boring pattern that I can’t work on it too long without my eyes starting to roll back into my head. I think it’s pretty, though. It’s in Knit One Crochet Too Second Time Cotton:
BUNNY
In critter news, I finally got a good picture of the bunny who has taken up residence in our yard. He/she made an appearance on Easter morning, sending my daughter into fits of ecstasy over confirming that the Easter Bunny LIVES IN OUR YARD! I mean, I couldn’t have planned it better. Thanks Easter Bunny, bawk bawk! (remember that commercial?)
CHICKENS
Here’s a picture of the chickens getting ready for bed. They sleep ON top of their coop, even though I would prefer that they sleep IN the coop.
THROAT
In keeping with our All Illness All the Time theme here at Four Chickens, my daughter was diagnosed with strep throat yesterday. So, bright red is the dominant color in our house right now.
