Today the chickens are free range in the backyard. This means they roam around, eat our strawberries, grass and weeds and, if we are sitting at the table, they peck at our toes thinking they are worms. I will tell you right now that my toes do not look like worms, so I don’t know what the gals are thinking. Anyway, I was up in the office working on the computer (i.e., surfing the Web) and I became aware that the chickens were making a ruckus. As you know from a previous post, the chickens often make a ruckus, but this sounded like “there’s an enemy intruder” ruckus. The last time they made such a noise, the neighbor’s puppy had found its way into the yard. The chickens started running around and squawking their heads off, which scared the puppy so badly that she was frantically trying to figure out how to get the hell out of our yard. Poor gal. Anyway, today I ran out into the yard to find that a brightly colored blimp was passing by overhead. I cracked up–they thought the blimp was some sort of predator bird flying overhead ready to eat them. Now that’s chicken comedy for ya.
I’m still plugging away on Martha (this is mislabeled on the link–they mistakenly call it Buzz). Sigh. I’ve been so busy, I can’t seem to find the time for any extended knitting. Heresy I know, but there you have it.
I’m also working on Aibhlinn from Knitty.com’s Winter 2004 issue. This is my restaurant knitting, so it’s slow going.
And, I’m working on Conwy (example) from Nancy Bush’s great book Knitting on the Road. It’s a great pattern, but I got bored and have put it in time out for awhile. I’ll get it back out soon.
We’re going to Monterey, CA tomorrow! Yay! I grew up there and we’re going to see my sister and her family. I can’t wait. And my daughter can’t wait. Every day she asks: “how many more days until our trip?” And tomorrow morning, she will explode with joy at learning that we are leaving!
