Well, Girlfriend may have chicken pox. The thing is, she has no actual pox. We’ve searched. Not a single one. But, she was exposed about three weeks ago, developed a fever and slightly flu-ish symptoms at the right number of days from exposure, but no pox. She still has a low-grade fever that is highest in the morning and is gone by evening. And she has a slight tummy ache. Other than that, nothing. I’ve called the doc several times and she thinks it could be a rare case of chicken pox with no pox. She wants Girlfriend to come in on Friday for a blood test to see if she has developed an immunity to chicken pox, telling us that she actually had it. So weird.
What this means, though, is that Girlfriend has to stay home from school because she might be contagious. So, we’ve been taking long walks in the neighborhood, watching videos, reading and generally hanging out together. It’s been quite pleasant. I leave for a conference on Friday, so it’s been nice to spend some quality time with her before I go.
I will leave you with a (cruddy) picture of her castle and knight that she made with her Legos. They are working on “castle stories” in school this week (which her teacher sent home for her to work on), so she got inspired. Notice the pink drawbridge rope. Just because it’s a castle with a knight doesn’t mean it can’t be pretty:
Lainey-Paney
I’ve never had chicken pox! Thank goodness!
So, maybe she’ll have poxless chicken pox too!
Lucky lil devil.
From what I hear–they’re just awful!
