So, we are in full first science project mode here at Four Chickens. Girlfriend chose weather as her topic. We finally got it narrowed down to weather forecasting. So, she and dAhub did a bunch of research on the history of weather forecasting (which is much more interesting than you would think), the history of which includes: mythology (Thor was thought to create thunder and lightning); telegraphs (used to transmit weather info); weather satellites; meteorologists (who study weather); and percentages (of times the forecast is accurate). I’m quite proud of her. dAhub created a computer program to make a table of her data, and then she diligently entered her data last night. So far, things look like this:
Meahwhile, I started the first Socks That Rock Club sock. It’s a toe-up pattern, which I’ve never done before. The toe is done in short rows, in garter stitch. The foot is in a ribbing with a smaller needle. So far, it looks kind of funky, but I look forward to seeing the leg cabling. It’s an inside-out pattern, which is neat. My skein is striping nicely–apparently some other people’s yarn is pooling oddly. Behold the Indside Out! modelled on a can of beans:
We are experiencing a few days of glorious (sunny) spring weather. The chickens are loving it. We let them roam the yard during the fall and winter because they can scratch all the plants they want and I don’t care. But, when spring hits and they start scratching up the tender new plants that are emerging, they get confined to the chicken pen. That time is coming soon. So, here’s Rosie enjoying one of her last days free ranging in the yard:
In other critter news, we have had no more mouse-bat sightings in the house. I think we got all of them. We do miss them a bit, but they were bad house guests–no toilet training whatsoever.

Yeah…that STR does look *funny* and familiar! Did you see what YarnHarlot had to say about it?
