Last night it hailed/snowed. We woke up to a sunny winter wonderland. The only bad thing was that even though the schools were open, we had black ice in front of the house and on the side streets. After dAhub spent 10 minutes scraping the car, we decided that it was too risky to drive. And Girlfriend has been feeling under the weather for the past week, so she and I stayed home. This saved me an extra trip to school anyway–Girlfriend has been incredibly home- and mama-sick ever since the end of winter break (which is when this stomach thing hit). Every day I’ve taken her to school this week and last, she ends up in tears by midday and the office secretary calls to have me come pick her up. I called the doc this morning and she said that a viral gastrointestinal thing is going around that matches Girlfriend’s weird on and off symptoms.
So, Girlfriend’s here doing homework and I’m here feeling spacey (I think I’m getting something) and having a hard time focusing. I spent the whole morning wandering the Web aimlessly. Then I thought I’d do a blog posting.
I’ve been knitting. Mostly on my Forest Path Stole (from the Summer 2003 Interweave Knits) in green Zephyr yarn. Even though entrelac and lace together sounds nightmarish, it’s actually quite easy once it’s set up. I’m on tier 8. There are 23 tiers, so I’m a little over 1/3 of the way:
I’m also working on the Diagonal Rib Socks in some wonderful pink variegated merino 2/6 from Fleece Artist that Molly gave me for my birthday (crappy picture alert):
Oh, and I finished some knitting over the winter holidays. First, a cardigan from for Girlfriend:
Pattern: Knitting Pure and Simple #981, Children’s Neckdown Cardigan
Yarn: Cascade 220, various heathered colors
Needles: Size 9 addi Turbos
Punctuation buttons from Lilac Bow Yoke Buttons (my favorite button company)
I also finished a pair of socks for my MIL (you can’t see the pattern too well but the color is pretty accurate):
Pattern: Child’s First Sock in Shell Pattern from Knitting Vintage Socks by Nancy Bush
Yarn: Koigu KPPPM
Needles: 2.5 mm KnitPicks circular needles (I used the Magic Loop method)
In a little bit I have to take Girlfriend to her violin lesson. Wish me luck on the mean streets of Seattle…
