We got back from Disneyland last night. I think it’s safe to say that it’s a birthday that Girlfriend will never forget. Everything went right. Even the fact that it rained most of the time we were there–because I think the lines weren’t as long as they could have been. It did kind of suck that it was 70s-80s degree temps in LA before we got there and then 70s-80s as soon as we left, but que sera, sera.
We did it all. We ate Disney food that was safe for Girlfriend and for me (although not that healthy…). We met, took pictures with, and got autographs from princesses, fairies, woodland animals, ducks, mice, pirate captains, villains, magical people, and astronauts. They were all very nice except for one snotty fairy. I found out that Lilo and Stitch are actually a girl and a cute alien. I always thought they were the Disney equivalent to “Itchy and Scratchy” from The Simpsons (clearly I’ve never seen the movie). I saw a TV star and actually took his picture when he wasn’t looking (because I’m a dork). It was hard to do because he was surrounded by many very pretty men. We swam in the pool. We visited with my college roommates. We bought too much stuff with mice and magical people on them. We managed to keep our one checked bag under 50 pounds. We rode every ride in Fantasyland, Toontown, and Bug’s Land (that one is in California Adventure). We did sporadic things in the other lands. Girlfriend went on two roller coasters, even though she was scared out of her mind the first time and people in line thought I was a terrible mother (Girlfriend actually insisted on going on the roller coaster even as tears of fear were running down her face). No one puked from motion sickness (this is a problem with dAhub’s side of the family). We all walked about 10 miles a day (no lie, I bet it would add up to that or more if we had thought to wear pedometers). Girlfriend had “Happy Birthday” sung to her and had a little birthday cake made for her at least 1 time per day.
We are back and happy to be home. I will post pictures and more soon.
